BRAD JOHNSON With a background in philosophy and fine arts, Brad turned his focus to interactive media in 1994 when he created “Pinch,” an award-winning multimedia mailer for a fictitious clothespin company. His creative leadership guides the studio’s work, from concept development to the implementation of site architecture and visual aesthetics. Brad has a B.A. in Philosophy from Washington and Lee University.
CHRIS HOTZ Chris Hotz lived the dream of snowboard bum after college at Kent State. A ruptured spleen and several months getting intimate with an Apple 7600 led him to Morrow Snowboards in Portland, Oregon, where he was later snatched up by K2. Hotz, with partners Jeff Bartel and Trevor Graves, started a three-man operation called Nemo. Nemo’s current clients are HP, Bell Helmets, Skullcandy, and Nike 6.0 brand.
MANNY BERNARDEZ Originally from Caracas Venezuela, Manny Bernardez (a.k.a. moi) has been working
in the Motion Design/Film world for over 11 years. This journey has taken him from Miami Beach, NYC, with brief stints in Chicago, and LA. And finally landing him in good ol’ PDX. Currently, Manny is a resident Design Director for Nike. Manny spends most of his time day-dreaming, doodling, writing treatments, designing, editing, and animating.
NANDO COSTA A Brazilian native, Nando moved to the US and entered the animation world at Digital Kitchen as a Senior Designer and animator. Soon after, he started an animation company in Rio with his wife and creative partner Linn Olofsdotter. There he curated two books both published by Die-Gestalten Verlag. In 2004 he joined Modernista! as Creative Director to work with clients Napster to Hummer. Nando then moved to Portland, OR to jumpstart Nervo.tv – which in its first year created animated films for Zune, Nike, Adobe to FOX. As 2009 began, Nervo joined forces with Bent Image Lab.
ROBERT LEWIS Robert works out of his award-winning studio Fashionbuddha and is co-owner of the Grassy Knoll Gallery in Portland, Oregon. Robert has contributed to Portland’s creative community as co-founder and director of Goto+Play, curator of several local animation festivals, and previous adjunct professor of motion graphics at the Art Institute of Portland. PINEY KAHN A veteran of pop culture biz (Capitol Records, Grand Royal/Beastie Boys, DC Shoes, etnies, and Red Bull), Piney founded milk milk (a marketing collective) in 2006 to do what she loves best – connect people. Piney lives in Portland, OR, where she enjoys watching Dr. Who and embarking on ill-advised home improvement projects.
JASON RESCH Jason Resch is a Senior Account Manager for an internationally award-winning multi-disciplinary design firm: Twenty Four Seven. His specialties include research, branding, marketing, and community outreach. His Twenty Four Seven projects range from managing the design/build process of world-class retail stores, shop-in-shops, and retail extensions to research projects that cut across strategy, 2D and 3D. SHOAM THOMAS Shoam is a West coast designer who has worked for the likes of Mattel, Nike, Autodesk, and Nintendo and continues his pursuit of clear graphic communication in current interactive, environmental, and branded display projects. A renaissance man, he can be found in Portland bouncing from record shops to wine bars to clothing stores doing his part to keep the economy afloat.
AMANDA KRAFFT Born and raised in Alaska (no, she doesn't know Sarah Palin), Amanda is new to the design world with a background in nonprofit work and an uncanny talent for making friends. When she isn't drinking caramel lattes you can find her rippin' up the dance floor, pouring over magazines, and hanging out with her twin sister.

PORTLAND MOTION DESIGN CONTESTANTS![]() LLOYD BAGTAS Lloyd a.k.a. The Brown Bomber [BROBO] was given this nickname from his high levels of melanin and his ability to control his flatulence. When not singing karaoke, he is doodling characters and making them come to life. Lloyd animates usually through impromptu song, arousing hip movements or making kazoo sounds.
